Questions and Answers

It's normal to have questions! And we don't keep people in the dark. Here are some common questions and their answers. Don't see your question? Call us at 918-224-7838 and we will answer you!

Q: Where are you located?
A: Our studio is just minutes outside of Tulsa in downtown Sapulpa, OK. Right on Route 66. Our address is 120 E. Dewey Ave, Sapulpa, OK 74066
Q: Do you do prints, digital or both?
A: At Box, we believe in the permanence of high quality printed wall art, albums and prints. But we also want photos on our phones and for social media. So at Box, you get both, ultra high quality prints and phone resolution digitals
Q: Do you offer a print release?
A: For over 30 years, Box has been based on quality. If it has our name on it, it must be perfect. And made to last. The only way to maintain and control that quality is limit who and how our work is printed. So we do all of our own printing.
Q: How long does the process take?
A: Photo shoots are often booked ahead. Depending on time of year, it can take anywhere from 2 to 4+ weeks to get a photo shoot. You portraits are typically ready to be viewed and ordered from in 2-3 business days. Finished print orders normally take 3-4 weeks to complete.
Q: What will my investment be?
A: That totally depends on what you want. Some invest $700, some invest $2700. If you budget $1200, that will cover all of your basic needs. But don't be surprised if you love them all and want to buy more
Q: When do I pay?
A: Payment at Box is broken up, making it easier to get what you want. Your photoshoot fee is due when you schedule your shoot. The day of the shoot, you will have a small deposit that applies fully to your order. When you order, we deduct your initial deposit and then half of the balance is due when ordering, half upon delivery. If you need, we can break those 2 payments into 4 for you.
Q: How do you pick the backgrounds?
A: As a general rule, your outfits select the backgrounds. We always look to match your sets, backgrounds and locations to your wardrobe. We ALWAYS invite your preferences as to what you like. So tell us what you like!
Q: What about weather or rain?
A: We are at Mother Nature's mercy. If it's cloudy, or looks like rain, that's OK. No worries. If you are scheduled for outdoor portraits, if it's a high probability of rain, we will call you and reschedule your photo shoot the day before. Unless you want to bring an umbrella and have fun in the rain!
Q: Do you offer makeup and hair styling?
A: We work with a short list of stylists that we have approved of. You may opt to use their services if you like. We do not charge, we put you in touch and you pay their fees direct to them.
Q: Can I include my activities, car, pet or BFF?
A: Absolutely! We encourage all of those! Activities cover much more than main stream school activities. Maybe it's dance, art, books, swimming, rodeo or hunting (yes, you can even bring a hunting rifle as long as we check it out first). If you want to include your car, makes sure it's clean. Unless it's a Jeep. The dirtier the better there! We will help you plan out what you might bring during your studio tour.
Q: What's in your gear bag?
A: We are INSANELY picky about quality! For seniors, Gary mainly uses a Canon 1Dx Mark2, one of the highest performing cameras ever made. He rarely uses zooms and favors insanely sharp prime lenses. We want to see 1000 different colors in your iris. Our studio has multiple areas that use all kinds of lighting: classic, fashion, window light or dramatic. For outside, we use natural light if it's perfect, but most of the time, it can be improved with reflectors of off camera flash for superior color.
Q: Can you supply my school with a yearbook photo?
A: Some schools require that you use "their" photographer so the photos all look the same. Of course you can purchase from whomever you want and do not have to buy from them. If your school allows you to turn in your own photo, yes! We will take care of you and supply them with any photos they need. Just let us know if they have an specific requirement.
